I just heard a great slip by Condoleezza Rice during
an NPR interview this evening. In response to the question everyone's been asking since yesterday's National Intelligence Estimate, namely whether the US strengthened al-Qaida by invading Iraq, she answered that the "ideology of hatred was in place and infecting much of the Middle East long before the United States in-, had to liberate Iraq."
I don't know what's funnier, the truncated "invade", or the gratuitous "had to".
